Every father faces hurdles
in their journey of fatherhood.
But for some, those struggles go deeper, hidden behind the joy of welcoming a new life.
Behind The Crib is a Final Year Project campaign by students from NTU’s Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information. It aims to reveal the unseen sides of fatherhood and bring awareness to paternal postpartum depression - a reality often overlooked.
Paternal Postpartum Depression
In Singapore, a study of 200 fathers* aged 21 and above found that 14.3% of fathers had moderate depressive symptoms, and 7% of the fathers were identified with high risk of depression. (Chua, 2025)
*Third trimester of pregnancy (baseline) and 1 month postpartum
It is estimated that 1 in 10 fathers experience PPD globally
(Unicef, 2025)
